Koga

By Shannon Burgess

Black bird flutters down from the sky
Perches in a tree high above
A symbol of all our deceit and our lies
Or a symbol of unworldly love?

You don't know how much I cried and I cried
When you told me you had to leave
But know I was strong, or at least that I tried
To free myself of all of my grief

A cold wind blows through the mid-autumn sky
As I stand outside, here on my own
I walk by myself and I still wonder why
You left me to walk all alone
